Bay City Rollers Kissing Kit
I don't know what I was expecting when I ordered this, but it certainly wasn't the complete and utter disappointment I got when I received this doublesided 17" x 22"poster. This is probably the lamest thing I have ever purchased. Even the photos aren't cute - they all look like they are having a bad hair day!
These two pictures are the other side of the poster. I especially like how each Roller tells us about the type of girl he wants to date. Les says, "I'm the type of person thats in love with love". Sounds romantic when you're an innocent little teenager, but what it really means is that it doesn't matter who you are because once that inital rush fades, he's searching for it with someone else. He was my favorite too. Oh Les, how you'd break my heart!
And no, I never kissed this thing. Look at it...how could I? Their heads aren't even the size of my fist. I think I would have been happier if the kissing kit had been 8x10s of their faces that I could pin on my wall and kiss goodnight before dreaming about being Mrs. Les McKeown.

Boy, was I a Rollers fan back in the day. "Dedication" was the first album I ever bought (an LP, of course). I recently got their Greatest Hits on CD, and had to chuckle that I could sing the words to every song.
Vinyl rules!...except that cds are so much easier to use, are portable, and take up less space. But LPs are still number one in my heart - large cover art, lyric sheets, and you never knew if there was something cool inside, like a poster, stickers, or photographs. The Rollers have some great tunes - catchy bubblegum music from a band that plays their instruments and writes some songs. Excellent!
Not to mention (as one of the lameness factors) the fact that it is in BLACK AND WHITE!!!
Cheez-o-rama, baby, cheez-o-rama.
Maybe they wanted to make sure your lipstick prints showed up on it when you kissed it.
I just googled "Bay City Rollers Kissing Kit" and found this! OMG! You are the only ref on the web I see! Any chance you still have this and would be willing to send me the text? I had one of these as a 12-year old, albeit the version w/Alan and not Pat McGlynn. Just spent a weekend in Edinburgh w/other BCR pals of mine and would LOVE to read this thing again and have a laugh over what we used to believe from reading teen mags! Thanks much!
Thanks for sharing!!! I sent away for the BCR missing kit, but never received it. I never knew what the kit contained until now...thank you...now I know I didn't really miss anything. Derek was my FAVE roller, and Eric was a close 2nd.
BTW, I still have my BCR scrapbook, which contains private info, pics, and vital stats of all the Rollers.

Should be 'kissing', not missing.
