Evel Be Thy Name

George Hamilton as the king of the daredevils? Never!!!! Somehow I just don't think old George and his florescent tan are going to cut it. Why do I question whether he's really up to portraying that baseball bat wielding, sky jumping maniac? Well basically because I don't think George Hamilton is ever going to do this -

THAT is the craziest still frame yet.

Very nice curating job there, Chris.

P.S. You are sooo right about Harrison.

Yeah, Mr. Suntan is just a little too slick to play Evel.

I actually paid to see this movie three times in the theater. I had never, ever heard of Evel and I liked Hamilton's portrayal! Nearly all of the stunts and jumps in the film are stock footage of the real Knievel. In real life, he was nowhere near as charismatic as George (witness VIVA KNIEVEL!)but after this movie, I followed his career through his attempted "jump" of the Snake River Canyon. After that, I decided he was mentally ill and not a good role model for my 15 year old self!

Ohhh Viva Knievel! Now that is one hell of a piece of cinema. The jump over Snake River Canyon is etched in my mind simply because of the confusion of watching this dare devil basically plummet into the river.
